The World Organization of Bukovina Jews was created in the year 1986 and its purpose was the better contact and togetherness between the Jews of Bucovina in Israel and those living abroad. They organize periodically meetings of Bucovinians in memoriam of those who were killed or died during the Holocaust years. They dedicate their time as well to the preservation of the Jewry and Zionism of Bukovina and the information and promotion of the cultural work of the Bukovinians. The WBJ cultivates as well social work as is the support for Jews from Bukovina who live alone and are in need of material help, and this through the support of generous sponsors.
The world-organization is managed by a committee as follows:
-Lawyer Itzhak Artzi, former member of the Knesset, President
-Jacob Weiner, Vice-president
-Isahar Locker, Vice-president
-Dr. Gideon Kroft, Vice-president
-Siddy Gross
-Rozica Ehrlich
-Joseph Rudel, chief-editor of the monthly newspaper “Die Stimme”.
WBJ has branches in Jerusalem and Haifa. The Organization of Jews from Radautz, Campulung, Vatra Dornei and Gurahumorului also belong to the WBJ.
